Terms of Use and License

Lightspill · Last updated October 5, 2026

These terms cover your use of Lightspill ("the app"), made by GDW Entertainment ("we"). By installing or using the app you agree to them.

Free use and the trial

Keeping your Mac awake with Lightspill is free to use. "Keep running with lid closed" (lid mode) is free for 7 days, starting the first time you turn it on. After that it needs a license.

Your license

Payments and refunds

Purchases are made through Lemon Squeezy, our reseller and merchant of record, whose buyer terms also apply. If Lightspill isn't right for you, email us within 14 days of purchase for a full refund, no questions asked. A refunded license key is disabled.

Using lid mode safely

A Mac running with its lid closed still makes heat and uses battery. Lightspill stops lid mode at the battery level you choose and when macOS reports the Mac is critically hot, but you are responsible for where you leave a running Mac. Don't run long jobs in a closed bag or on soft surfaces that block airflow.

No warranty

Lightspill is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind. We work to keep it reliable, including always restoring your Mac's normal sleep setting, but we do not guarantee it is free of errors or suitable for any particular purpose.

Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, GDW Entertainment is not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential damages, including lost data, battery wear or hardware damage, arising from your use of the app. Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for your license.

Changes

We may update these terms; the date above will change. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the new terms.
